Programs and Services
The Fire Department has responsibility for a number of services in addition to its primary role of emergency incident response.
Staff Complement
The Township of Brock Fire Department consists of one (1) full-time Fire Chief, one (1) full-time Fire Prevention Officer and 74 volunteer firefighters which operate from three (3) halls: #1 - Sunderland, # 2 - Cannington, and # 3 - Beaverton. The volunteers are comprised of the following:
- 3 District Chiefs (Beaverton, Cannington, and Sunderland)
- 13 Captains
- 58 Firefighters
Incidents
The Fire department is often the 1st responder in an emergency situation. During the year 2006 the fire department responded to 639 emergency situations. These included:
- 303 medical assist calls
- 105 automobile accidents
- 42 reported fires including building fires, grass fires, and vehicle fires
- assistance to allied agencies (police and EMS)
- public assistance calls including carbon monoxide alarms and flooded basements.
Training
All fire personnel receive on-going training on an annual basis with each station holding practices and training sessions every week. Training is held in the following areas:
- First Aid
- CPR
- Ladder, and Hose Practice
- Scott Air Pack use
- Driver Training
- Search & Rescue Operations
- Basic HAZMAT Training
- Propane/Natural Gas Training
Vacancies
The Fire Department does not maintain a listing of potential applicants on-file. Vacancies within the department are advertised periodically and resumes are received at that time to fill any needed positions. Contact the Fire Chief for further information.
NEW! Tanker Shuttle Accreditation
