PROPERTY TAX BILLS

Tax Bills are mailed out twice a year.

Interim Tax Bills are mailed out in January and have 2 payment dates:  February and April.  The Interim Billing is based on the prior year's taxes. Each payment is equal to 25% of the prior year's total tax billing.

Final Tax Bills are mailed out in June and have 2 payment dates:  July and September.

The 2011 payment dates are:

Interim Tax Bill - February 25th and April 21st; and
Final Tax Bill - July 25th and September 23rd.

Calculation of the final billing is as follows:

Assessment X Property Tax Rate = Total Property Taxes for the Year.

Total Taxes – Interim Payments = Final Billing (this total is split over the final 2 payment dates).

Details on the various Property Tax Rates may be found here:

FEDERAL GAS TAX FUNDING

The Federal Gas Tax Fund originally committed approximately $1.9 billion to Ontario municipalities for environmentally sustainable infrastructure over a five year period (2005-2009). The Federal Government has committed to extend Federal Gas Tax Funding for an additional four years. This provides municipalities in Canada with an additional $2 billion per year from 2010 to 2014 under the Building Canada Plan. Municipalities can apply this funding to infrastructure projects that promote cleaner water, cleaner air, or reduced greenhouse gas emissions and help address a massive, province-wide infrastructure deficit.

For each project completed by the Township of Brock under this program an Outcomes Report must be completed and submitted to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. The public can obtain a copy of any Outcome Report by contacting the Municipal Treasurer.
