by Site Admin last modified 2006-04-15 16:32

All reports of dog bite/attack will be investigated.

Upon receiving notification of a dog bite/attack, the canine control officer(s) will attend the site and/or meet with the victim to take all pertinent information:

  • the Canine Control Officer investigates the incident and at this time a decision is made with respect to proceeding with charges under the municipal Canine Control By-law or to take action through The Dog Owner’s Liability Act;
  • the Region of Durham Health Department is notified of any bite, following which they determine if the dog should be kept in quarantine for a period of 10 days.
