Growth Planning is concerned with establishing the plans and policies for land use in the municipality, based on projections of populations and households. In addition, the municipality must also adhere to various Provincial plans including the Provincial Growth Plan, Greenbelt Plan, and Provincial Policy Statement.

Development Control refers to the set of processes whereby the Township can ensure that development is carried out according to the established plans and policies.
