The division of property within the municipality requires an application to the Region of Durham Land Division Committee. While the Township does not approve these applications, Council does provide comments to the Land Division Committee when the applications are circulated by the Committee. Each application for severance must be reviewed in terms of whether it conforms to the relevant provisions of the Regional Official Plan, Township Official Plan, and comprehensive Zoning By-law. In addition, for certain types of severance applications the applicant must meet specific requirements to qualify for the severance.

Application forms may be obtained at the Township office or at the offices of the Regional Planning Department. Staff at the Township are available to assist you in completing such applications.
