Region of Durham Official Plan
The Township of Brock must adhere to the planning policies contained within the Regional Official Plan. The Regional Plan also incorporates those relevant policies contained within the Provincial Greenbelt Plan.
The Township of Brock, as an area municipality of the Region, must adhere to those planning policies contained within the Regional Official Plan. This plan contains policies which set out the long-term vision as to how the Region will accommodate and manage growth. Further information may be obtained by contacting the Planning Department at 1-800-372-1102 or www.durham.ca.
Development policies for the rural areas of the municipality are contained within the Regional Official Plan as the Township does not have Official Plan coverage for these areas. Essentially, the rural areas are divided into a number of land use designations which include the following:
- Prime Agricultural Areas;
- Greenlands System (including waterfronts and major open spaces);
- Rural Settlements (hamlets)
The Regional Plan also contains policies related to aggregate resource extraction, its transportation network, the environment, housing, economic development, finance, and cultural, health and community facilities.
Application forms to amend the Regional Official Plan can be found on the Region’s website under the department “Planning.”
