Winter Road Maintenance Program

by Site Admin last modified 2006-04-15 16:30

Plowing, sanding, and salting of all roads and bridges following winter weather events.

The Public Works Department is responsible for plowing, sanding, and salting of all roads and bridges following winter weather events, based on an established route.

The majority of the snow clearing operations are completed during normal working hours, however it is not uncommon for staff to work extended periods or on weekends.

Sidewalk routes in each urban area of the Township are also cleared of snow and salted during the winter months. Established routes include those identified in the commercial core of the urban areas and routes to the local public schools.

What to do if your mailbox is damaged by the snow plow

The Municipality will replace a damaged mailbox if the damage is deemed to result from a direct hit by plow equipment. Mailboxes damaged by snow load off the plow equipment will not be replaced by the Municipality. Should your mailbox be damaged, please contact the Public Works office. An inspection and assessment will be made by the respective Working Foreman and reported to the Director.
