Statement from Regional Chair on strong partnerships among Durham and the eight local municipalities

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:
“Despite the recent provincial announcement about changes to the structure of the Region of Peel, there have been no concerns raised about the size or structure of The Regional Municipality of Durham.
Our Region, and the eight local municipalities, have a productive and strong track record of working together to serve our residents....

Whitby, Ontario - May is National Lyme Disease Awareness Month and Durham Region Health Department is reminding everyone to take precautions against ticks when spending time outdoors.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has partnered with Lakeridge Health Foundation to host a fundraising charity bike ride, Pedal for Patients. Money raised through rider and team fundraising will advance and support cancer care and the Our Cancer Campaign at Lakeridge Health.
When: Sunday, May 28. Registration starts at 7:00 a.m. The deadline to register is May 21.

Notice is hereby given to all persons in possession of land, in accordance with the Weed Control Act, R.S.O. 1990 Chapter W.5, Sections 3, 16 and 23 that unless noxious weeds growing on their lands within The Regional Municipality of Durham are destroyed throughout the season, the Municipality may enter upon said lands and have the weeds destroyed, charging costs against the landowner, as set out in the Weed Control Act.
