MEDIA RELEASE
PATRON PROOF OF COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY
Effective Date: September 22, 2021

The Township of Brock continues to monitor and follow the advice of Public Health officials at the federal, provincial and regional levels, to ensure every precaution reasonable in the circumstances to protect the health and safety of its staff and patrons while committed to providing excellent service to the community.

Each of us has a role to play in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and keeping our colleagues, friends, and family safe. A vaccination policy will help us get closer to that goal. Public Health has reported increased vaccination rates have been shown to be effective in reducing COVID-19 virus transmission and protecting vaccinated individuals from severe consequences of COVID-19 and its variants. By supporting the mandatory vaccination directive, we all contribute to minimizing the spread of COVID-19 and its variants, now and over the long term.

Effective September 22, 2021, the Township of Brock requires verification of proof of full vaccination status before admitting persons 12 years or older and who do not qualify for exemption to access Township Facilities.

This would include:

  • Foster Hewitt Memorial Community Centre
  • Sunderland Memorial Arena

Please have proof identification and of being fully vaccinated ready at point of entry to ensure ease of access. Should an individual choose not to share the required information, they will not be permitted to enter Township Facilities in accordance with Ontario Regulation 364/20.

Vaccination receipts can be accessed through the provincial portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.

Brock Township is hiring a security company to assist with the requirements under the provincial mandate, and patrons entering township facilities, will be required to provide the security officer proof of vaccination or exemptions of having vaccinations. This will be in addition to providing identification and the required contact tracing information which will include the same name as shown on the provided ID and a contact phone number.

Privacy

Information on an individual’s vaccination status will be verified under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Verification of proof of vaccination will only be used for the implementation and enforcement of the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. As per Ontario Regulation 364/20, the Township shall not retain any information provided by patron(s) to provide proof of vaccination status.
