Revision of the Voters’ List
Commencing on September 1st, 2022 the Voters’ List for the 2022 Municipal Election will be available for inspection at the Township of Brock Municipal Administration Building, 1 Cameron Street East, Cannington, Ontario. The REVISION PERIOD runs from Thursday, September 1st, 2022 until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24th, 2022.
Electors are encouraged to examine the list as soon as possible after September 1st, 2022 and if your name does not appear on the list and you qualify as an elector or if any personal information is incorrect, applications to amend the voters' list may be obtained at the locations, dates, and times listed below.
Qualification of Electors
The elector qualification period runs from September 1st, 2022 to the close of voting on October 24th, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. A person is entitled to be an elector in the Township of Brock if they:
- reside in the Township of Brock;
- are the owner or tenant of land in the Township of Brock or the spouse of an owner or tenant;
- are a Canadian citizen;
- are eighteen (18) years of age on Voting Day; and,
- are not prohibited by virtue of section 17(3) of the Municipal Elections Act.
NOTE: Qualified electors may vote ONLY ONCE in a local election within a given municipality. Electors who own or rent more than one property in the Township of Brock may appear more than once in the Voters’ List and may, therefore, receive more than one VOTE BY MAIL KIT. The onus is on these electors to vote ONLY ONCE. The ballot must be cast in the Ward within which the elector maintains his/her permanent residence.
Vote By Mail
The Township of Brock Council, pursuant to the Municipal Elections Act, S.O. 1996, as amended, will conduct the 2022 Municipal Election by Vote By Mail. A Vote By Mail Kit will be forwarded by Canada Post to each person who has qualified to be on the Voters’ List by September 29, 2022. Persons who have not received their kit in the mail by October 3rd, 2022 may obtain one at the following locations, dates, and times:
- Clerk’s Office, Municipal Office, 1 Cameron Street East (2nd Floor), Cannington, until October 21st, 2022, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and October 24th, 2022 (Voting Day) from 8:30 a.m. until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. for all Wards (1 – 5);
- Beaverton Library, 401 Simcoe Street, Beaverton, from October 11th, 2022 until October 21st, 2022, during regular library operating hours, and October 24th, 2022 (Voting Day) from 10:00 a.m. until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. for Wards 1, 2, & 4 ONLY;
- Sunderland Library , 41 Albert Street South, Sunderland, from October 11th, 2022 until October 21st, 2022, during library operating hours and October 24th, 2022 (Voting Day) from 10:00 a.m. until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. for Wards 4 & 5 ONLY.
Return of Completed Ballots
Electors may return their ballot to the Township of Brock by pre-paid mail. The last day to mail your ballot in order to guarantee delivery is October 13th, 2022. Electors may personally deliver their ballot at the above-noted locations, dates, and times. Should a postal disruption occur, notice will be given as to the revised dates for the return of the ballot.
