Heritage Plaques
The Township of Brock's heritage plaque program recognizes the historical and heritage significance of eligible buildings and properties within our community. The plaque includes the:
- Date the building was constructed
- The original/notable owner
- Occupation of the original/notable owner
Apply for a Heritage Plaque
To request a heritage plaque, complete the Heritage Plaque Application form and drop it off to the municipal office located at:
1 Cameron St.
Cannington, ON L0E 1E0
You will need to include the following information in your application package:
- A current photograph of the building
- Documentation of historical information (such as property deeds, historic photos, maps, census data, etc.)
- A cheque for $75 payable to the Township of Brock
Eligibility
If your home was built before 1910, you are eligible for a heritage plaque. We will consider buildings constructed after 1910 if they have exceptional heritage characteristics, such as:
- Architectural significance
- Notable occupancy
- Historical association

Researching and compiling a history of your property, house or building can be an interesting and rewarding experience. The following list suggests documents that could help you find historical information:
- Land Title records
- Assessment rolls
- Census records
- Area and fire insurance maps and atlases
- Periodicals
- Newspapers
- Building permits
- Architectural drawings
- Historical photographs
- Family records/diaries
