Drop off unwanted items during Environment Days

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the area municipalities, is inviting residents to drop off items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal.
When and where:
- Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine), Whitby Operations Centre, 333 McKinney Drive, Whitby
- Saturday, June 22 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine), Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre (parking lot), 91 Elliot Street, Cannington
- Saturday, September 21 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine),
Durham Region hosts Doors Open to celebrate 50th anniversary

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region residents are invited to celebrate the Region’s 50th anniversary by attending our free, in-person family fun events on Saturday, June 15.
When: Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine).
Where: Doors Open will be taking place at the following Regional sites:
- Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant

Whitby, Ontario – Emergency Preparedness Week runs the first full week of May, from May 5 to 11. The Region of Durham once again has a jam-packed week of tips, tricks, and important information on being prepared and knowing your risks, including:
- Launching brand-new Nuclear Emergency Preparedness Guides, with customized information for people who live or work within three, 10, or more than 10 kilometres of a Nuclear Generating Station in Durham.

Residents are invited to take part in the Region’s Curbside Giveaway Day on May 4

Whitby, Ontario – Building on the success of last year’s event, the Curbside Giveaway Day is back. Curbside Giveaway Day is an event organized in co-operation with the local area municipalities, where residents can place unwanted items in good condition—clearly marked as “Free”—on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the Giveaway Day, residents return unclaimed items to their home.
