Durham Region to proceed with design and construction of the Beaver River Bridge

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, with the support of the Township of Brock and on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, will be temporarily replacing the Beaver River Bridge until a permanent replacement can be constructed.

Durham Region’s Waste Management Facilities increasing user fees effective May 1

Whitby, Ontario – Effective May 1, 2024, the minimum user fee for general residential and commercial garbage waste will increase from $5 per load to $7 per load for loads up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds). For every eight kilograms greater than 40 kilograms, the fee will increase from $1 to $1.40. The flat rate for loads weighing 1,000 kilograms (metric tonne) or more will increase from $125 to $175 per 1,000 kilograms. Compost Giveaway events are being held across the region from April 27 to June 8

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has teamed up with the area municipalities to offer free compost to residents at special events taking place across the region.
