Durham Region to proceed with design and construction of the Beaver River Bridge

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, with the support of the Township of Brock and on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, will be temporarily replacing the Beaver River Bridge until a permanent replacement can be constructed.

Whitby, Ontario – Effective May 1, 2024, the minimum user fee for general residential and commercial garbage waste will increase from $5 per load to $7 per load for loads up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds). For every eight kilograms greater than 40 kilograms, the fee will increase from $1 to $1.40. The flat rate for loads weighing 1,000 kilograms (metric tonne) or more will increase from $125 to $175 per 1,000 kilograms. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has teamed up with the area municipalities to offer free compost to residents at special events taking place across the region.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding residents to place their used household batteries out for recycling on their blue box collection day, during the week of April 22.
When: Spring battery collection occurs from April 22 to 26 on blue box collection days.
