Whitby, Ontario – There are more than 40 benefits in Ontario that can boost incomes for residents living with low income. To help residents access these benefits, Mobile ID and Benefits Access Hubs will be available across Durham Region this spring.

Why: Mobile ID and Benefits Access Hubs can help eligible residents to:

  • Learn about benefits they may be eligible for.
  • Get or replace government identification, such as Social Insurance Numbers (SINs) and Birth Certificates.
  • Open a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) and apply for the Canada Learning Bond benefit from the Government of Canada. Eligible families can get up to $2,000 per child deposited directly into an RESP to save for post-secondary education.
  • Sign up for the new Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), which is now open to eligible seniors, children under 18, and adults with a Disability Tax Credit certificate who have received a letter in the mail from the Government of Canada.

When and where:

  • April 5: Whitby Public Library – Brooklin Branch, 8 Vipond Road, Whitby, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • April 9: Mearns Meadows, 94 Concession Street East, Bowmanville, from noon to 6 p.m.
  • April 15: Orchard Valley Court, 1580 Kingston Road, Pickering, from noon to 6 p.m.
  • April 29: Beaverton Heights, 121 Nine Mile Road, Beaverton, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • May 5: Lakeview Harbourside, 1529 Ritson Road South, Oshawa, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
