National Volunteer Recognition Day April 20, 2025

On behalf of the Non-Profit Sector Advisory Committee and the Township of Brock, I want to thank you all for coming out to celebrate National Volunteer Recognition Day, this Sunday, April 20^th, which also marks the start of National Volunteer Week!

This is a time where we recognize the power of giving, the spirit of service, and the incredible impact that volunteers make every single day.  When we think of what makes a community strong, it’s the people.  It’s the neighbor who checks in on a senior down the street. The coach or artist or gardener who shares their time and skills with others.  It’s the people who respond to the community’s needs by offering warmth and hot meals to those facing days without heat and power.

It’s also the people that contribute to the many non-profit organizations that we are so fortunate to have in Brock Township.  Service clubs; arts, culture and heritage, sports and recreation, agriculture, horticulture and many more.  These groups are the heart and soul of our community that make Brock Township such a great place to live.

Volunteering doesn’t require perfection or a big stage.  It just requires a willing heart.  There is nothing more inspiring than people who give their time, not for recognition or reward, but simply because they care.

In a world that often moves too fast and sometimes feels too divided, volunteers remind us of our shared humanity.  They remind us that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves.

So today, as we raise the flag, we pause to say thank you—to every one of you who has stepped up and made a difference, no matter how big or small.  Thank you for your dedication, your selflessness, and your commitment to making the world a better place.

And lastly, a little phrase that sums it all up … when we volunteer, we don’t just give—we grow.
