Public works update – Excessive snow removal February 21, 2025

Ongoing operations should complete excess snow removal in Beaverton’s Marydel subdivision early Tuesday. Crews will be dispatched to Cannington or Sunderland, weather permitting.

The Township understands that this large accumulation of snow is frustrating but rest assured that the Township is doing everything it can with the resources available.

Our operations crews have been doing an outstanding job, and their efforts will continue with the same dedication and commitment to service. However, it's important to note that all operations are subject to the prevailing weather conditions. The safety of our residents and staff remains our top priority, and our teams are continuously monitoring the situation to ensure we are addressing any concerns swiftly and effectively.

Fire Hydrants

Snow removal around hydrants is the responsibility of the homeowner; if you have a hydrant near your home, we are asking that you clear at least 3 feet around the hydrant in all directions. Seconds count in an emergency and when firefighters respond, the ability to see the hydrant is very important. You would be helping us to make our community safer in the case of an emergency.

Clearing Snow from Your Roof

The recent heavy snowfall has left many roofs under significant strain. Removing excess snow from your home, barn, and other structures is crucial to prevent roof damage, ice dams, and dangerous snow slides. If possible, use a roof rake or hire a professional to clear the buildup safely.

  • Clear the snow from the home and barns roof for safety
  • Prevent structural damage
  • Reduced the risk of ice dams
  • Avoid sudden snow slides protect livestock and equipment

Thank you again to all residents for your ongoing patience, together, we will continue to navigate these challenges and work towards a safer, more resilient community.
