Clean-up Update

Township and Durham Region Operations crews are fully engaged with clean up in Municipal and Regional areas. Timelines associated with clean-up are unknown at this time. We anticipate it will take most of this week before all roads will be opened. Updates will continue to be provided on the Township  and Durham Region website.

Roads

Concession 7 Brock is closed due to downed trees, powerlines and debris. Barricades and road closure signs are in place. Please do not remove these from their locations and do not drive around the barriers. These are in place for public safety.

Traffic Lights

There are significant highway intersections along Hyw 7 and Hyw 12 that are still with no traffic lights out, the intersections must be treated as a four-way stop, where drivers must come to a complete stop and yield to the vehicle on their right if they arrive simultaneously.

Garbage and Waste

Large waste bins will be available from the Region of Durham this week for residents to dispose of kitchen and household waste as needed at each arena:

  • Sunderland Memorial Arena, at 20 Park St. Sunderland
  • Foster Hewitt Memorial Community Centre, 176 Main St., Beaverton
  • Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre, 91 Elliot St. Cannington

Waste collection will continue on your regular scheduled pick up dates.

Tree debris

Urban area residents can bring tree/road debris to the curb/roadway but must follow the following criteria. Pick up to be determined. The Township is in communications with contractors to get brush picked up. This process will take a couple weeks to complete.

  • Brush must be securely tied in bundles up to one metre (three feet) long and 76 centimetres (30 inches) wide.
  • No branch should be more than 10 centimetres (4 inches) in diameters.
