Township of Brock Ice Storm Operation Update - May 6, 2025
Over the past week, Township staff have been actively removing brush along the east side of Thorah Park Boulevard. Staff continue with similar work on the east side of Maple Beach Road and then will proceed to remove along the east side of Cedarhurst Road. After all work on the east sides of these three roads is finished, staff will move on to complete the west sides.
Following brush removal along the beaches, efforts will continue in the hamlets of Blackwater, Vallentyne, Vroomanton, Gamebridge, Ball Subdivision, Concession 2 Sonya, Wilfred, and Saginaw (west of Sideroad 18A).
All other residents with brush remaining can dispose it in the following ways:
Option 1: Bundle and bag brush according to the Region of Durham’s yard waste guidelines and place it at the curb on your designated yard waste collection day.
Option 2: Drop off brush at the Brock Waste Management Facility located on at C22480 Brock Sideroad 17. Hours of operation are Tuesday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Option 3: Obtain a burn permit from the Township of Brock and burn the brush in accordance with the Township’s burn by-law.
Parks
Lodwick Park (formerly King Street Park) is closed to address the track conditions and contractors will remain to complete other word and tree debris clean up.
All other Township of Brock parks and open spaces, including cemeteries are opened to the public.
As our Public Works and Parks Crews, have other seasonal tasks, the removal of ice storm tree debris may take months to clean up, and as such residents are asked to show some patience and use caution when using municipal open spaces.
