NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING PROPOSED REPEAL OF ATV BY-LAW No. 1954-2005-PP
TAKE NOTICE that, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Brock intends to repeal ATV By-law No. 1954-2005-PP being a by-law for permitting and regulating the operation of off-road vehicles (ORV) upon highways under the jurisdiction of the Township of Brock.
By repealing the by-law, the operation of off-road vehicles (ATV’s) will be regulated under the Highway Traffic Act Ontario Regulation 316/03 and subject to enforcement by local police.
In general off-road vehicles (ATV’s) must be:
- Registered
- Display a licence plate
- Insured under a motor vehicle liability policy
- Travel at speeds less than the posted limits:
- Road speed limit over 50 km/h – max ORV speed limit 50 km/h
- Road speed limit 50km/h or less – max ORV speed limit 20 km/h
- Must wear an approved motorcycle helmet
- Drivers for on-road riding must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Hold at least a valid G2 or M2 licence
- Wear a seat belt where provided
- Drivers for off-road riding must:
- Be at least 12 years old, unless directly supervised by an adult or driving on land occupied by the owner of the ORV.
Note: The Township of Brock does NOT have any formal or organized ORV trail system.
The Notice Policy requires that Council host a public meeting prior to the consideration of a subsequent meeting to formally repeal the ATV by-law. Accordingly, Council will host a public meeting to obtain input on this proposal. The meeting will take place virtually on:
Monday, January 30, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
