September National Hunger Action Month
"September is National Hunger Action Month. It is unfortunate that again, we must have a national hunger action month. There is nothing so critical to a person’s survival than food. During this month, it is incumbent on all of us to recognize this need now more than ever and to do something about it now.
We have individuals and families in Brock Township and beyond who struggle daily to put food on their table. It’s more difficult than ever during times of extraordinary inflationary pressures on food prices. These pressures exist not only for everyone putting food on the table but also for our many community organizations whose goal it is to help alleviate this food crisis.
Our community food banks in Brock Township need your help. Please contact them to determine what food products they most need or simply make a cash donation, which will allow them the flexibility to acquire needed items for our friends and neighbours in need.
This will be Brock’s 2nd annual Brock Beats Hunger campaign. This campaign challenges us all to take action to end hunger. It is challenging us all to make this year’s campaign not only the best but the last. On behalf of Council, I am challenging our residents, businesses, organizations, and neighbouring municipalities in Durham Region, and beyond, to step up, accept the challenge and make a difference in ending hunger and food insecurity in our communities.
Together we can achieve some remarkable things in Brock. Let’s make ending hunger one of them. Below you will find information and links to where and how you can help
Thank you for being the caring and compassionate people that Brock is famous for."
