Fire prevention is an important part of the services offered by the Fire Department in the Township of Brock. Learn how to protect your family from a fire through emergency planning and by taking part in one of our prevention programs and initiatives.
Fire Education Programs
Contact us if you'd like the Fire Department to visit your school, community group or event to teach fire safety. We teach fire prevention techniques through our smoke alarm and carbon monoxide programs.
Arson Prevention Program for Children |
This program provides fire safety education to children of all ages who have shown interest in fire play. Children may be recommended by outside agencies and/or Provincial court systems. |
Learn Not to Burn |
The Learn Not to Burn program is designed to work with educators to teach fire safety to the preschool, kindergarten and grade one students. All schools in Brock Township have been provided free copies of this curriculum through the Fire Marshal Public Fire Safety Council. |
Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms
In Ontario, every home must have a working smoke alarm on every storey. There must also be a carbon monoxide alarm on each level with sleeping accommodations, if there are fuel-fired appliances such as furnaces, fireplaces, hot water heaters etc. within the home or if there is an attached garage. Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week takes place each year on the week of October 9. During this week, children, adults and teachers learn how to stay safe during a fire.
