Weight Restrictions
Please be advised that half load restrictions are now in effect.
Half-load restrictions are typically in place during the spring season when the frost begins to lift from the roads leaving them vulnerable. When half-load restrictions are in effect, signs will indicate the road is off limits to vehicles exceeding 5 tonnes per axle or vehicles that are heavier than 5,000 kilograms. These restrictions are necessary to protect the roads from damage.
Why are there weight restrictions?
In the spring, as frost comes out of the ground and moisture comes out of the road bed, roads become softer and weaker. Heavy loads on the roads cause them to sink and break apart, which can lead to permanent damage. Half-load restrictions are put in place to protect our roads and road beds from being damaged and reduces the need of having to re-build a road after every spring thaw.
Please note passenger vehicles are exempt from this restriction.
Information on half load restrictions on Regional Roads is available on the Durham Region website.

Adopt-A-Road Program
Are you interested in giving back to your community? Take part in our adopt-a-road program. Contact us to get started today!
Through this program, your group will volunteer to clean up a section of Township road. You will be responsible for picking up litter and debris at least twice per year. After completing the second clean-up we will put up a sign on your section of the road to acknowledge your work.
We will provide garbage bags and will pick up the garbage bags from the side of the road. We can also loan a safety training video and safety vests as required.
Roadside Memorial Policy
Brock Township has passed a resolution for “Roadside Memorials”. The policy shall attempt to allow the grieving process to proceed, while addressing the Township of Brock’s primary legal obligation and responsibility of keeping our roadways safe at all times.
