Council Highlights February 9, 2026

Council Highlights offer a summary of crucial decisions or agenda items discussed in Council meetings, aiming to give residents a snapshot of the meeting proceedings. The following are highlights from the last Council Meeting:

Council has approved awarding a contract to complete the Cold Mixed, Flexible Asphalt Cold Technology (FACT) project on the following roads.

• Thorah Concession 2
• Thorah Side Road
• Side Road 18a

FACT is self healing product that can be paved on any road surface condition and will lower maintenance and upkeep costs. The municipality trialed FACT in 2025 on Thorah Concession 1 and Thorah Concession 3 with overall success.

Council  approved awarding a contract to complete the slurry seal project on the following roads.

• Simcoe St. North
• Brock Concession 14
• Various roads - to be determined

Council approved a new non-prime ice rental school rate for programing scheduled during  week days.

The Region of Durham is moving forward with the development and implementation of a Rural Cycling Wayfinding Signage Program in North Durham as part of its broader rural cycle tourism strategy. Visit Durham Tourism to check out the 4 loops located in Brock
