Council Highlights November 24, 2025
Council Highlights offer a summary of crucial decisions or agenda items discussed in Council meetings, aiming to give residents a snapshot of the meeting proceedings. The following are highlights from Monday's Council Meeting:
- Council heard a delegation with respect to the town of Beaverton being designated as an International City of Peace. More information on this designation can be found in the presentation, or by visiting www.internationalcitiesofpeace.org/
- Council approved the 2026 Interim Tax Levy By-law. The first installment payments will be due on February 25th, 2026 and second interim installment on April 24th, 2026.
- Councill approved the amended User Fees By-Law to include Full Cost Recovery on items outlined in the report effective immediately.
- Council has approved the additional funding required for construction of the Manilla Hall Accessible Ramp to be withdrawn from the Public Building Reserve.
- The Q3 By-Law and Animal Services report was presented to Council which included information pertaining to increased call volumes for by-law enforcement and animal welfare.
- Council was presented with the 2024-2025 status update to the 2022-2026 Multi Year Accessibility Plan. Some key municipal achievements include.

Door at Sunderland Town Hall replaced with accessible entrance maintaining the cultural and architectural details of the original entrance

- A request for a Beaverton Downtown Bypass was made to Council and they have directed staff to refer this request to the Region of Durham and the Ministry of Transportation.
- Council has received a response from Canada Post regarding the Notice of Motion, Protection of Rural Canada Post Services in the Township of Brock that was sent after the October 27, 2025 Council Meeting.
