Council Highlights offer a summary of crucial decisions or agenda items discussed in Council meetings, aiming to give residents a snapshot of the meeting proceedings. The following are highlights from Monday's Council Meeting:

The Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee presented their annual report to Council. The report highlights included: 

  • Agriculture at a Glance in Durham Region 

  • Economic Contributions in 2021 

  • 2025 Activities from DAAC 

  • Major issues facing Agriculture in Durham Region 

Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society gave a presentation to Council on their upcoming 50th anniversary. The society formed in 1976 with 9 volunteer directors to promote public interest and maintain the museum as a repository of local historical artifacts. They host various meetings, workshops, events and exhibits and in 2025, introduced the Beaver River Railway Exhibit. Join the Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society and celebrate their 50th anniversary at their Settler’s Day Celebration on August 1, 2026. 

Council has directed staff to proceed with the purchase of a new tandem truck, plow and wing from Winslow Gerolamy Motors. 

Council has directed staff to hire Engineering Link to undertake the required pile testing on 4 bridges within the municipality. 

Council has directed staff to hire Flexcell Engineering Inc. to begin design and soil testing for new washrooms at the Beaverton Harbour. This new washroom is an integral part of the Waterfront Area & Open Spaces Plan for the Beaverton Harbour. 

Council has adopted the Visitor Growth Plan a collaborative strategy designed to boost tourism and showcase Brock as a vibrant destination. This plan reflects the shared vision to create exciting experiences for visitors while supporting local businesses and community growth. 

Council approved the new Taxicab By-law which removes the requirement for a licence from the Township of Brock for a taxi company to conduct pickups and drop offs within the municipality. Taxi companies will still be required to hold a valid licence from another municipality to conduct their business, and licensing procedures. This amendment will support consistent and equitable transportation options for all residents of the Region and is intended to enhance the availability and accessibility of transportation services in the Township. 

The Nourish and Develop Mobile Market will continue to be held inside the Manilla Hall from January to April and outdoors at the facility from April to November in 2026. 

Council received and approved information from the Heart of Ontario Snowmobile Club regarding trail changes for the 2026 season.
