What: The Sustainable Food Security Fund supports local non-profit organizations with initiatives that promote long-term, sustainable solutions to improve food security for residents. The 2026 funding limit is up to a maximum of $50,000 per approved application.

When: The call for applications opens May 4 and the deadline to apply is May 27 at noon.

Why: The Sustainable Food Security Fund aims to contribute to sustainable food security solutions; promote dignity for users of food programs; increase efficiency within the food distribution system; build capacity of existing food programs; and increase access to fresh, nutritious food.

Durham region’s non-profit sector provides important programs and services to support residents of all ages and stages, helping to address key issues that impact our community. Through supporting community non-profits, we will help to build a stronger Durham.
