• Council Highlights

The Township of Brock Council Discussed the follow:

• Director of Finance/Treasurer presented the 2024 Draft Operating and Capital Budget presentation to Council. This high level presentation shared some of the high level conversations that will be covered during the upcoming budget deliberations. The 2024 Budget is being discussed  Monday February 5, 2024 10:00 a.m., Thursday February 8, 2024 10:00 a.m. Thursday February 15, 2025 10:00 a.m. Expected to commence on Monday February 26, 2024 3:00 p.m.

• Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority presented  the Framework to Limit Liability for Winter Maintenance Contractors Employing Best Practices . The Township of Brock requests that the Attorney General of Ontario and the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks establish technical standards and a Provincial regulatory framework that limits liability for contractors following best practices to ensure public safety, business sustainability, and environmental protection.

• Council has granted the approval of a BBQ at the Beaverton Beach Day event located at the Beaverton Harbour organized by North Durham Pride on July 13, 2024. Subject to the provision of a certificate of insurance and approval from the Fire Chief.

• Council heard a deputation regarding Green Development Standards and passed a motion showing support for the Ontario Building Code to be amended to include tiered energy performance green building standards amendments to provide meaningful energy efficient improvements, in a cost-effective manner, for all future buildings.
