Regional service impacts during the Canada Day 2026 holiday

 The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of impacts to Regional programs and services on July 1, in observance of the Canada Day holiday. 
When and Where: On Wednesday, July 1, the following programs and/or services will be impacted: 

  • Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby will be closed, including Provincial Offences Courts and offices, the Ontario Works Office, the Child Care and Early Years Division Office, as well as all 311 Regional front counters and call centre services. 
  • Directly Operated Child Care Centres will be closed in alignment with school boards. 
  • All Family Services Durham locations will be closed. 
  • Ontario Works offices in Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge, as well as the Community Resource Centre on the upper level of 200 John Street West in Oshawa will be closed. 
  • Adult Day Programs at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa and Lakeview Manor in Beaverton will be closed. The Port Perry site (431 Paxton Street) Adult Day Program is always closed on Mondays. 
    • Health Department programs and services will be unavailable, including: 
    • Oral Health Clinic and Office in Oshawa. 
    • Sexual Health Clinics. 
    • Breastfeeding Clinics. 
    • Immunization Clinics. 
    • Water sample drop-off and pick-up service will not be available at these locations on Friday, June 26 to Wednesday, July 1. Regular service will resume on Thursday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m. 
      • Durham Regional Headquarters at 605 Rossland Road in Whitby. 
      • Durham Region Health Department Port Perry Office at 181 Perry Street in Port Perry. 
      • Township of Uxbridge Municipal Office at 51 Toronto Street in Uxbridge. 
      • Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex at 2440 Durham Regional Highway 2 in Bowmanville. 
  • Durham Region Transit (DRT) will be operating on a weekend schedule. 
  • DRT’s Customer Service Desk at 110 Westney Road South in Ajax will be closed. 
  • For customers who book trips for On Demand Services or Specialized Services, DRT’s Reservationists hours of operation will be modified: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you need to book an On Demand trip, they can be managed through our DRT On Demand Transit mobile application (app). Customers are reminded that they can book rides up to four days in advance (Specialized transit trips) and three days in advance for other On Demand strips.

Please note, these services will not be monitored during closure.
