Solar Eclipse 2024

On April 8, 2024, between 2 and 4:30 p.m., Ontario will experience a total solar eclipse with the peak happening around 3:20 p.m. Durham Region has set up an information page  to help you learn more about the eclipse and how to view it safely.

Looking directly at the sun without proper protection can lead to serious problems such as partial or complete loss of eyesight.

If appropriate eye protection is not available, alternate viewing strategies should be considered, such as watching a livestream on the NASA website.
