Sunderland Memorial Arena Project Update

At a Special Council meeting on Friday June 28, 2024 Council awarded the Sunderland Arena Project Manager Contract to CBRE by passing the following motion

“Be It Resolved That Report 2024-PRF-017, Sunderland Arena Timelines and Project Manager Tender, be received;
and
That staff be authorized to proceed with the issuance of the contract for the outlined work with CBRE in the amount of $306,966.17, excluding HST, upon receipt of all required articles outlined in the tender document regarding insurance coverage; and
That Council provide staff with direction to put ice in the Sunderland arena for the 2024/2025 season.”

Council and staff discussed anticipated timelines of the project and the importance of keeping all user groups and interested parties updated on the project status.

Quick Facts

• Ice will be installed at the Sunderland Memorial Arena for the 2024/2025 winter season
• Construction will begin in spring of 2025
• The Project Manager will work closely with the Descope and Design Committee to determine new project timelines
• The 2027 deadline to remain eligible for ICIP grant is still attainable
