Township of Brock Volunteer Appreciation Night 2026

Last night it was an honour to host the Township of Brock’s Volunteer Appreciation Night at the Beaverton Legion. This event acknowledges the individuals who have contributed to local governance as members of Council’s boards and committees. Through their work, they help ensure that Council’s decisions reflect the needs, experiences, and values of our community.

These volunteers were appointed in 2022 and have served the municipality over the past four years. Many are returning members who have dedicated their time and expertise for well over a decade. This is meaningful service, and it truly makes a difference. Many of these individuals are also involved in countless other volunteer efforts that support our local organizations and strengthen our communities.

On behalf of Council, staff, and the residents you serve, we would like to thank the following committees and groups for your dedication and contributions.

The Brock Accessibility Advisory Committee is a legislated committee that advocates for persons with disabilities, makes recommendations to Council on strategies to remove barriers and is responsible for ensuring that the municipality is in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

The Non-Profit Sector Advisory Committee provides advice and recommendations to Council on the role and importance of non-profit organizations in our community, and identified opportunities for collaboration between the municipality and community partners.

The Brock Tourism Advisory Committee provides advice and recommendations to Council on matters relating to tourism services, community-based tourism, activities, and initiatives within the Township of Brock. Their voices also helped to inform the recently adopted Visitor Growth Plan.

The Tourism Working Group which was supported by Central Counties Tourism and assisted with the Development of the Visitor Growth Plan. The group audited what Brock has to offer to visitors, who is visiting and the gaps and opportunities for visitation. The Visitor Growth Plan will inform the priorities of staff and council from 2026-2029 in the municipal tourism initiatives.

Brock Board of Trade is Council’s direct link to the business community, and their membership and board of directors are a valued informant for municipal decision making, and their work supports a wide variety of businesses.

The Township of Brock’s Public Library Board works directly with the Library CEO to execute the mission, vision and values of the organization and determine the goals and objectives. Our libraries are a vital hub in our communities, providing free resources and support for thousands of people each year. The work our Library Board does ensures the excellent services and programs can continue.

The Manilla Hall Community Association promotes the community use of the Manilla Hall and hosts a variety of events and fund-raising activities such as pie sales, children’s parties, fiddle jams, community luncheons and more. This group of volunteers continues to celebrate and give back to their community and promote community engagement.

The former Wilfrid Hall Community Association was a longstanding group of volunteers whose efforts focused on community building, fundraising and hosting many wonderful events.

The Sunderland Town Hall Ad-hoc Liaison Committee is a group that was dedicated to preserving the historical significance of the beautiful Sunderland Town Hall. This group has provided valuable input into many capital projects at the hall including the accessible entrance.

The municipality’s Livestock Valuers are individuals who’s essential contributions are imperative in working with local farmers, conducting investigations and providing information to the municipality as per the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.

The Committee of Adjustment serves a valuable planning function within the Township of Brock.  This legislated Committee makes decisions regarding severances and lot line adjustments and minor variances to the Township's Zoning By-law in order to address site specific situations in accordance with the Planning Act.

The time, energy, and expertise you share help shape our municipality and strengthen our communities. Whether through advising Council, preserving community spaces, supporting accessibility, culture, business, tourism, or governance, your contributions have a lasting and meaningful impact.
