Township partners with LSRCA for Low Impact Development work at the Beaverton Fire Hall
The Township of Brock is excited to announce a partnership project with the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) taking place at the Beaverton Fire Hall.
The project commenced the week of April 1st, 2024, and the expected duration of the project is five (5) weeks. This project is led and funded by the LSRCA at a contracted cost of $376,463 +HST.
The scope of work for the contract is a Low Impact Development which improves the stormwater run off, water quantity and quality as part of innovative stormwater solutions.
New gardens will be built on both front corners of the fire hall to capture rain run off from the roof and area parking surface. As well, a water storage tank will be added to collect and store the rainwater, to provide water for Fire staff to use.
The Tom Hawtin Memorial Garden will be temporarily displaced and recreated with new plantings.
The development will filtrate the rainwater from the roof and parking surface, through the gardens and naturalized swale, before entering the stormwater drainage system, all in an effort to help improve the quality of run off water that enters Lake Simcoe.
Mayor Schummer apologizes on behalf of the municipality for the lack of communication on this project. The Township endeavours to improve communication on all future projects.
