Council Highlights July 29, 2026
Council Highlights offer a summary of crucial decisions or agenda items discussed in Council meetings, aiming to give residents a snapshot of the meeting proceedings. The following are highlights from the last Council Meeting.
The Durham Regional Police Services Board presented Council with an update on Community Safety, Policing and Police Governance in Durham Region. Highlights of the presentation include approximately 300 new officers hired over the last two years, 143% investment increase for policing in North Durham, launch of the Community Safety Portal and ongoing engagement with Mississaugas of Scugog, local MPPs, municipalities, and school boards.
Council has directed staff to proceed with the purchase of a one truck with chassis and plow equipment .
Council received an update on the previously approved Rural Roads Emergency Funding and staff have been directed to continue the work on additional brushing, ditching and shoulder removal of rural roads.
Council has directed staff to develop a Request for Quotation to determine the additional funds required to complete work on the Lodwick Park Project including upgrading the size of pickleball courts and the addition of a soccer pitch. Council also directed staff to purchase and install park signage.
