Committees and Boards

The Township of Brock has a variety of committees and boards that help advise Council on important issues.

The Brock Accessibility Advisory Committee (BAAC) is committed to making our community accessible by removing barriers.

The BAAC is responsible for ensuring that the Township of Brock is in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act as well as:

  • Advocating for persons with disabilities by raising awareness in the community
  • Making recommendations to Council on strategies and policies that will help identify and remove barriers for people with accessibility issues
  • Working with Council to develop and implement the Accessibility Plan

The Brock Tourism Advisory Committee (BTAC) is an advisory Committee of Council, comprised of members of the public and Council, supported by Regional and Township of staff, who will provide advice and recommendations to Council on matters relating to tourism services, community-based tourism, activities, and initiatives within the Township of Brock.

Livestock investigators are appointed by Council and provide livestock valuations in the event that your livestock are injured or killed by wild animals.

The Manilla Community Association promotes the community use of Manilla Hall and manages the facility. This includes fund-raising activities and promotional events. We also work to review the recreation and leisure needs of the community.

The Non-Profit Sector Advisory Committee (NPSAC) consists of members of the public and Council who are responsible for providing advice and recommendations to Council about the status of non-profit organizations in the community. The committee will:

  • Discuss challenges and opportunities facing the non-profit sector community organizations in the Township of Brock
  • Network and discuss opportunities for cross-collaboration between community organizations
  • Provide advice and recommendations for how Council can offer meaningful support to local organizations

At the December 13, 2021 meeting of Council, the NPSAC Report regarding The Non-Profit Sector in Brock was received, and Council approved the continuation of the advisory committee. The Committee and staff will continue to work together to address the recommendations contained within their report.

The Non-Profit Sector Advisory Committee recognizes the importance of volunteerism within the Township of Brock. The community is fortunate to have so many hardworking and dedicated volunteers committed to providing services and special events in the community. Events like The Haunted Trail and the Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers who plan and organize all the details of these events. Similarly many programs and improvement projects in the community are completed by volunteer organizations.

The Township of Brock's Public Library Board works with the Library CEO to execute the mission, vision and values of the organization and determine the goals and objectives.

The Sunderland Town Hall Ad-Hoc Liaison Committee provides input to the Manager of Facilities & IT as it relates to proposed and approved capital projects for the Sunderland Town Hall
